With the filing deadlines past and the August 1 primaries looming, its time to start paying attention to and learning about candidates running for office in Wichita.  There are seats up for contention on the Wichita School board, three seats open on the Wichita City Council, and the mayor’s seat is also being vied for.

Fri., July 7, 5-8 pm:  First Friday POP-UP at Revolutsia, Revolutsia, 2721 E Central. Haute Handmade Market will pop-up with a dozen-plus makers featured outside each store front. Art crawl and shop your favorite makers with a great artist lineup in a laid back setting with music, food, and drinks, both indoors and outdoors. FREE

Thu., July 13, 1 pm: “Nicodemus & The Black Migration West,” presentation by Angela Bates, Valley Center Public Library, 314 E. Clay St., Valley Center. A descendant of the settlers of the historic community of Nicodemus, KS, and founder and executive director of the Nicodemus Historical Society and Museum, Angela Bates will present a history of the town and the post-slavery Black migration into the Old West. This Wichita-area event will be a treat for those unable to travel to the Nicodemus Homecoming on July 28-30.

Fri. July 14, 7 pm: Snoop Dogg with Wiz Khalifa and Ying Yang Twins, Intrust Arena, 500 E Waterman. Tickets through Select-A-Seat.
