The annualย Strolling for Sickle Cell Fun Walk: Stepping Out for Sickle Cellย returned to Kansas City, Kansas, on Saturday, Sept. 13, drawing more than 100 participants to the campus of Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Even with September temperatures, the annualย Kappa Kookoutย drew a large crowd of fraternity brothers, family, and friends on Saturday at Longview Lake. The Kookout, promoted under the theme โ€œGrilling, Chilling and Nupey Mayhem,โ€ lived up to its billing.

The first Black History Month was celebrated atย Kent State Universityย inย 1970, following a proposal by Black educators and theย Black United Studentsย in 1969, however in 1976, President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month, expanding the week-long celebration to a full month.ย
