Why did you decide to run for office?
I am deeply passionate about advocating for justice and ensuring that every voice is heard. Committed to continuing my father’s legacy of service, I strive to create a community where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. True advocacy involves fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. Unfortunately, we often see politicians prioritize their own agendas over the needs of their constituents. It is time to enter office and champion what is morally right and beneficial for the community. I am dedicated to being a voice for the voiceless and working tirelessly for the betterment of all
What do you believe are the most pressing issues affecting your district that you would hope to be able to impact?
The most pressing issues affecting my district, which I am committed to addressing, include Medicaid expansion, cannabis legalization, quality education, and the rejection of a flat tax system.
Medicaid expansion is crucial for improving healthcare access and outcomes for our residents, while legalizing cannabis can provide significant medical benefits and generate revenue for our state.
Additionally, ensuring quality education is vital for the future of our children and the overall prosperity of our community.
Moreover, I firmly oppose a flat tax, as it disproportionately impacts lower-income families and undermines the progress we strive to achieve. These issues extend beyond my district; they affect all of Kansas. I am dedicated to advocating for policies that promote equity, health, and education, ensuring that every Kansan has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can create a brighter future for our state.
Would you support either of those measures? If you support legalization of cannabis, what are some things you believe would be important to include in the legislation?
I firmly believe that Medicaid expansion is one of the most critical issues we face today. The closure of rural hospitals and clinics has severely limited access to healthcare, leading to delayed treatment and, tragically, the loss of loved ones. This suffering is often exacerbated by partisan politics that prioritize party loyalty over community health. We must prioritize the well-being of our families, the working conditions of healthcare providers, and the future of our next generations.
Additionally, I support the legalization of cannabis, as it has proven medical benefits. Legalizing cannabis would not only allow for taxation, generating revenue for our state, but also create jobs and foster a more peaceful environment. Overall, I believe that legalizing cannabis presents a win-win opportunity for Kansas, enhancing both public health and economic growth.
How do you plan to listen to and communicate with your constituents?
I plan to actively listen to and communicate with my constituents through regular town hall meetings, community forums, and open office hours, ensuring that everyone has a platform to voice their concerns and ideas.
Additionally, I will utilize social media and newsletters to keep constituents informed about important issues and developments.
I am committed to fostering an open dialogue, encouraging feedback, and being accessible to all. By prioritizing transparency and engagement, I aim to build trust and ensure that the voices of our community are heard and represented in decision-making processes.
