Nimrod “Rod” Chapel, President of  Missouri NAACP, will receive the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City (SCLCGKC) President’s Award for his work across the state exemplifying the prophetic spirit of Dr. King on Mon. Jan. 16.6 PM at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church during the Martin Luther King Mass Celebration. Chapel is founder of The Chapel Law Group and is an honorable trial lawyer who defended Medicaid 23 in 2016.

He also is the former Commissioner of the Administrative Hearing Commission in 2007, and has dedicated his professional and private life to helping people stand up for their rights. Prior to this position, Chapel served as the Director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. He has also worked in Kansas City as a trial lawyer at the Sly James Firm, with the Missouri Attorney General, Humphrey Farrington and McClain. Chapel earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Oklahoma State University, his law degree from Tulane University from New Orleans, and his Masters in Tax from Washington University in St. Louis.
