Rapper-producer Missy Elliott has lost a Backstreet Boy with her new diet.
She’s lost about 30 pounds in four months just by avoiding bread and soda.
“I have only drank water, no other juices or soda, I cut out bread & Lord knows that’s been the hardest for me!” Elliott said on Instagram.
The almost 47-year-old Elliott’s weight has yo-yoed over the years, and in 2011 she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, a hyperthyroidism disorder. Among the effects of the disease are lack of strength and heart palpitations. Elliott was diagnosed after suffering leg spasms that nearly caused her to wreck her car.
Though she has gone through lengthy periods of not being able to work, Elliott now feels “glowing.”
“See I’ve never been a water drinker but this have helped my skin, it really restore glow back & I don’t feel sluggish,” she said.
Gluten-based breads and sugar-filled sodas and juices can make people look and feel older. Drinking water helped flush those elements out of her system.
Some estimates say 40 percent of adults have sensitivity to gluten.
Elliott says she’s going to ditch junk food next. “That’s my weakness. But if I can give up those other things I’ll fight that to! Maybe two cupcakes a month,” she said.
