October 6-8 is officially Black Alumni Weekend in Kansas, or at least it appears that way. Kansas University, K-State and Kansas Wesleyan have Black alumni celebrations planned for that weekend.

The Kansas University Black Alumni Network kicks there weekend off with a Friday morning with a golf scholarship fundraiser and ends Friday with a welcome reception and awards presentation. The weekend is built around KU’s homecoming, so there’s a homecoming parade on Friday evening and a football game against Texas Tech on Saturday. The activities include tailgating on Saturday, a social gathering that evening, and a Sunday morning breakfast. The registration is ala carte, go to https://www.kualumni.net/cgi-bin/kuaa_transactions.cgi?action=displayxcollectionsweb&itemid=1524

The K-State Black Alumni/Greek Weekend begins with a welcome reception. On Saturday there’s a State of K-State’s Black Community Discussion, an alumni barbecue, then the reunion breaks into mini-reunions before returning for your option of two parties. The reunion concludes Sunday with breakfast. Registration is $140 per person. For details go to: https://www.k-state.com/alumni/calendar/index.php?eID=206

Most of the Black Alumni activities at Kansas Wesleyn’s reunion are part of the university’s homecoming weekend, which kicks off with an opening reception. Additional events planned for Black alumni include a Friday Night reception
