The Wichita Chapter of the Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce held their 2nd Annual Black & White Ball and Hall of Fame Inductees Award Celebration on April 22 at the Corporate Hills Marriott.
The evening featured guest speaker, Karen Carter, North America Commercial Vice President of Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. Ms. Carter is also the daughter of Karen Cayce, a Chamber board member.
Among the highlights for the evening was the presentation of scholarships to five local high school seniors. It is the hope of the chamber that these youth will also apply for scholarships next year so that they may continue their education.
The evening also included the induction of three new members into Wichita Black Business Hall of Fame: Juanita Hayes-Hill, retired owner of Little Pals Day Care; James Arbertha, owner of Power CDC; and Ed Givens, Sr., founder and owner of Givens Restoration Inc.
Salmon and Steak were on the menu for the dinner and the evening capped off with dancing to the soulful music of Natural Change out of Dallas.
