The FX Series “Atlanta” is a comedy, not a laugh a minute comedy, but more of a nuanced comedy like “Desperate Housewives.” The show, created by and starting Donald Glover, follows two cousins through the Atlanta music scene. Glover plays Earnest “Earn” Marks, a young Princeotn dropout turned manager trying to get his cousin’s rap career off the ground. Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles (Brian Tyree Henry is a new hot rapper trying to understand the line between real life and street life. The cast also includes Darius (Keith Stanfield) as Darius, Alfred’s right-hand man and visionary and Van (Zazie Beetz) Earn’s best friend and mother of his daughter.

“Earn” returns home to Atlanta under the dark cloud of failure. His cousin is a promising young artist with a ton of potential. Sensing a chance to capture the success that had eluded him, Earn becomes Alfred’s manager. Glover has said “the thesis with this show is kind of to show people how it feels to be Black.”
