Help KBLC and our partners create the Black Legislative Agenda for Kansas

Since 2015 the Kansas Black Leadership Council (KBLC) and our partners have gathered together Black Kansans annually to determine important issues in the Black Community and create a Legislative Agenda around them. This year we are gathering responses by survey and meeting virtually to discuss the results in preparation for the 2023 Kansas Legislative Session.

Some of the responses we received include Medicare, legalizing marijuana, reduced sentences for incarcerated, Police accountability, training and reform, Voting rights and the ease of registering to vote, taxes, environmental justice, education and workers rights.

If these issues or any issue concerns you this is the time to make your voices heard.

We encourage you to join us at the Kansas Capitol on Tuesday, February 14 for our Annual Black Legislative Day at the Capitol. This will be an opportunity to hear from subject-matter experts and advocate on the priorities addressed in the Black Legislative Agenda. Please mark your calendars and plan to take part in these three important events!

We will all be meeting in the first floor rotunda area.

Attend individually or with a group and meet with other Black Leaders from across the State of Kansas.  Lobby for support of Black Legislative platform and see your government in action. Gov. Laura Kelly will be meeting with us as well.

Lunch will be provided with paid registration.

Members of The Community Voice, Kansas Black Legislative Council and the Kansas State Conference of  NAACP Branches will be in attendance and handling logistics.

Ticket sales will end at midnight February 12, 2023.
