Flu Season in the US is the Most Intense it’s Been in at Least 15 Years
The U.S. winter virus season is in full force, and by one measure, is the most intense in 15 years. So far this season, the CDC estimates, there have been at least 24 million flu illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 13,000 deaths — including at least 57 children.

Proposed Ban on Formaldehyde in Hair-Straightening Products in Limbo Under Trump
The US Food and Drug Administration appeared close to issuing a ban on formaldehyde and certain formaldehyde-releasing chemicals from being used in hair-straightening products, but the future of these bans remains in limbo under President Donald Trump. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, so it is associated with cancer.

New Strain of Bird Flu Detected in a Nevada Dairy Worker
The newer strain had been seen before in more than a dozen people exposed to poultry, but this is the first time an infection was traced to a cow. CDC officials said there is no evidence that the virus has spread from this person to other people.
