Apr. 19-23 51st Annual Wichita Jazz Festival. Wichita Art Museum, Wichita State University, Crown Uptown Theatre and the Bartlett Arboretum. The Friday of the festival will showcase the future of jazz, with local and regional high school and college bands performing all day at Wichita State University as part of the WSU Jazz Invitational, hosted by WSU Director of Jazz Studies William Flynn. For the grand finale of this day of jazz education, acclaimed trumpeter Terell Stafford tops evening’s concert, accompanied by the students in WSU’s Jazz Arts Ensemble 1 and the Mid-Kansas Jazz Ensemble, both under the direction of Jim Pisano, Professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at Wichita State University.
