NOW – Mar 24-26 Take 36 Tallgrass Film Center, 120 E 1st, Tallgrass Film Association short film competition, TAKE 36 is being held March 24-26.  In TAKE 36 we task creatives to conceive, develop, write, shoot, edit, and submit a short film, made in just 36 hours! And just to keep things interesting, we will have some required criteria that must be present in all submitted films! Anyone is welcome to participate! We have had filmmakers from local middle schools and high schools compete as well as seasoned professionals. Films will be due by 7 a.m. on Sun, Mar. 26.  Tickets for showcase https://bit.ly/40q8i7F

Mon., Mar. 6, 7 pm: The United States Navy Concert Band Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple.  The U.S. Navy Concert Band is the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy. As the original ensemble of the Navy Band, the Concert Band has been performing public concerts and participating in high-profile events for 98 years. The band performs a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions and modern wind ensemble repertoire. FREE

The Kickoff Party will be emceed by former KAKE News anchor Susan Peters and will feature a ballet performance, reader’s theater and an art talk by local cartoonist Richard Crowson.
