Wichita is the first city in Kansas to offer the Documenters Network, a participatory journalism initiative that trains and pays residents to attend and document local government meetings and share the information they produce with the public.
Who are Wichita Documenters
Wichita Documenters trains and pays residents to document local government meetings with notes and live-tweet threads. We then make those meeting summaries available as a new public record.
Wichita Documenters is made possible by several partners in the Wichita Journalism Collaborative and funded by a gift from the Wichita Foundation. The partners involved in this special project include: The Community Voice, The Journal (Kansas Leadership Center), KMUW, The Wichita Beacon, Planeta Venus.
