Jazzlyn Johnson
Jazzlyn "Jazzie” is the former senior reporter for our team, who joined the company in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, through the Report for America service program. For the past two years, she covered the African-American and under-served communities in the Kansas City Metro area, a solo assignment that helped her rapidly connect and engage with issues and residents across state lines. Jazzie is a native of Toledo, Ohio and a graduate of the University of Montana. Her passions include learning and writing about racial justice and environmental justice issues, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with her dog Blinky.
Jazzlyn left in May of 2022 to accept a position with the Mayors office in Kansas City.
