WICHITA — The Community Voice’s Juneteenth Road Trip kicked off Saturday, June 20, at the Juneteenth ICT Parade, where large crowds lined 13th Street to celebrate the holiday and the spirit of community.
The parade traveled from Hillside Avenue to McAdams Park and featured a wide variety of participants, including candidates for public office, churches, Divine Nine fraternities and sororities, elected officials, car clubs, horse riding groups, dance teams, youth football organizations, local businesses and others..

Under sunny skies and near-perfect weather, families gathered along the route to wave, cheer and collect enough candy to keep children happy long after the parade ended. The festive atmosphere reflected the importance of Juneteenth as both a celebration of freedom and an opportunity for the community to come together.
After the parade, participants and spectators converged on McAdams Park for an afternoon of music, activities and fellowship, continuing a tradition that has become one of Wichita’s signature Juneteenth events.
