Homeowners in need of critical repairs may have a path forward — and it starts with understanding what help is available.
Wichita Habitat for Humanity is hosting informational sessions on its Home Repair Program, which assists income-eligible homeowners dealing with issues that affect the safety, health, or accessibility of their homes.
The program helps address a range of concerns, from deferred maintenance and everyday wear and tear to unexpected damage. Through the program, qualifying homeowners may be eligible for zero-percent (0%) interest loans and grants to complete needed repairs.
Two upcoming sessions will walk residents through the process:
- April 16 session
- May 7 session
During the sessions, attendees will learn:
- What types of repairs may qualify
- How the application process works
- What financial assistance options are available
- The eligibility requirements needed to receive support
To qualify, applicants must meet income guidelines and:
- Have homeowners insurance
- Be current on property taxes
- Be current on their mortgage
Registration is required to attend. Sessions are free, but organizers note that they begin shortly after the listed start time and late arrivals may need to attend a future session.
