This Sunday, July 6, the Potter’s House, one of the most influential churches in the world, will mark its 29th church anniversary with the formal installation of Pastors Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts as co-senior pastors.
This milestone represents the long-planned succession of leadership publicly announced earlier this year by Bishop T.D. Jakes.
The ceremonial handoff signals the beginning of a new era for The Potter’s House, as Bishop T.D. Jakes shifts his focus from senior pastor to growing his role as head of the T.D. Jakes Group. In this role, he will redouble his efforts to address economic, cultural, and spiritual needs.
Bishop T.D. Jakes, who founded Potter’s House in 1996, announced earlier this year plans to hand off daily pastoral responsibilities for the church. He will remain Chairman of the Board and spiritual overseer of The Potter’s House.
Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts, T.D’s daughter, is a New York Times bestselling author, international speaker, and founder of Woman Evolve, a global women’s movement that has found success across cultures and denominations for millions of women. She is well known for her books, including: Woman Evolve: Break Up with Your Fears and Revolutionize Your Life and Don’t Settle for Safe: Embracing the Uncomfortable to Become Unstoppable.
Pastor Touré R oberts, Sarah Jakes Roberts husband, is a spiritual strategist and bestselling author and founder of ONE, which is now A Potter’s House Church. He is a leading voice on purpose, transformation, and spiritual wholeness.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he is president and/or CEO of three organizations. Eight Eighteen Investment, which he founded in 2022 with a primary investment focus in biotechnology, health and wellness, and healthcare education technology. In 2019 he founded One House Multimedia, a music, publishing, and multimedia enterprise committed to making a meaningful impact on the world through the power of entertainment.
He’s also founder of CALLED LEADERS (aka THE CALLED) and organization designed to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of leaders across business, faith, technology, science, and entertainment. The Roberts’ Personal History
Before meeting and marrying Toure, Sarah was married to Rober Henson, a retired NFL player. They split in 2012. She also had two children, Malachi Xander Jakes and Makenzie Henson.
Touré has three children from his past marriage.
According to Los Angeles Times, Roberts and Touré met through a friend for breakfast after the release of her Lost & Found book in 2014. Shortly after, they began dating and got engaged in September 2014. Two months later, they officially exchanged vows.
In February 2016, the duo welcomed their firstborn, Ella Roberts, Sarah turns 37 this month and Toure is 53.
Together, they represent a modern model of spiritual leadership, one that honors the legacy of Bishop Jakes while reimagining ministry for the next era.
