Miss Juneteenth ICT will be crowned during the fifth annual scholarship pageant to be held on Sun. June 8 at Wichita State University’s Duerksen Fine Arts Center.  Doors open at 2 p.m., and the show begins at 3 p.m.

This year’s competition will feature six high-school aged contestants vying for the title of Miss Juneteenth ICT.  The pageant helps the contestants grow as leaders, community advocates and scholars.

It is presented in conjunction with the Juneteenth ICT celebration and sponsored by Credit Union of America. Since its inception, the Miss Juneteenth ICT Scholarship Pageant has awarded nearly $25,000 in scholarships.

Current titleholder Tiana Hardwell will compete as Miss Juneteenth ICT Teen in the Miss Kansas Teen competition in Pratt, which will be held the day before  the Miss Juneteenth ICT scholarship pageant.

Tickets to the pageant are $10 in advance and available through June 7 at The Blackprint, 104 St. Francis, Suite A, Wichita.  Admission is $20 at the door.

“Being Miss Juneteenth ICT has been an incredible journey,” said Hardwell.  “Representing this title has been an honor, and I’ve cherished every moment.”
