As grocery prices continue to strain household budgets this holiday season, Kansas City area SNAP recipients can stretch their food dollars a bit further with a special produce-matching program running through the end of the year.
The Double Up Food Bucks program is offering triple matching dollars on fresh produce purchases at 17 participating Price Chopper, Sun Fresh, and Hen House locations across the KC metro area. SNAP recipients can receive up to $75 in matching funds a day when spending $25 on fresh fruits and vegetables.
The triple-match-on-produce deal is part of a broader push to encourage healthy eating and make fresh fruits and vegetables more available to SNAP shoppers. Double Up Food Bucks is a program that matches SNAP spending dollar-for-dollar at farmers markets and some grocery stores in Kansas and Missouri. While the triple savings promotion is temporary, Double Up Food Bucks is available year-round. To learn more about the program and find participating vendors, visit doubleupheartland.org
The Triple Savings Deal
From now through the end of the year, SNAP shoppers can turn every dollar they spend on fresh produce into three dollars at participating stores.
Here’s how it works:
– Spend up to $25 on fresh produce using your SNAP benefits.
– Get three times that amount credited back for fresh produce purchases during your next visit.
For example:
– Spend $10 today, and you’ll earn $30.
– Spend $25, and you’ll walk away with $75 in fresh produce credit.
To take advantage of the triple match program, SNAP recipients simply need to use their benefits card to purchase fresh produce at participating locations. The matching funds will automatically be loaded onto their store loyalty card for use on their next visit.
