Kansas Rep. Marvin Robinson has died. He was 67. A Democrat, he represented the 35th District in Northeast Kansas City, KS.

His sister DeLisa Fowler posted an announcement on her Facebook early Friday morning.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news of my brother Marvin S. Robinson II’s passing, but I am also filled with joy knowing that he has entered the realm of the ancestors, where he will be embraced by our Mommy and all those who have gone before us,” posted Fowler.

May his memory inspire us to live with love and purpose,” Fowler posted. “Rest well, we got it from here.

Robinson, in his first term in the Kansas Legislature, took office in January 2023. He ran for reelection, but was defeated earlier this month in a four-way primary. Even though he was a Democrat and represented a heavily Democratic district, Robinson consistently voted with Republicans during the two years he was in office.

It was likely his voting record that drew three opponents in his bid for reelection. Despite a major investment from two conservative Republican groups — Americans for Prosperity and Kansas Family Voice — in his reelection efforts, he wasn’t able to hold on to his seat.

KS Rep Ford Carr (D-Wichita) said confirms Robinson’s cause of death as pancreatic cancer. Robinson reportedly died from prostate cancer. According to his friend Kenya Cox, president of the Kansas State NAACP, Robinson had recently been in and out of the hospital. ‘s to His votes and positions on numerous issues lead members
