Internationally acclaimed boy band 98 Degrees will come together in concert at the Kansas Star Arena on Sat., Oct. 19.

Hailing from Ohio in the late-1990’s, 98 Degrees has sold 10 million records and released six gold and platinum-record status albums. The quartet’s musical journey kickstarted in the first five years of their career with chart-topping singles in collaboration with Mariah Carey and Joe and Stevie Wonder, and their hit albums, “98 Degrees and Rising,” “This Christmas” and “Revelation.” The band quickly captured worldwide attention with their self-written material, showcasing their distinct R&B influences.

In September 2001, the male-harmony group performed at Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Celebration alongside other R&B artists. After more than a decade-long hiatus, the four-man group reunited to release an album in 2013, “2.0,” and go on tour in summer 2016, where they played several sold-out shows.

The group’s emergence at a time when teen-oriented acts like the Spice Girls, the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC were just hitting the top of the charts around the world compelled them to differentiate themselves from the mere “boy band” status that they derided. From the start, they emphasized that they wrote much of their own material, which reflected R&B influences more than mainstream pop roots. “There are major differences musically between groups, not to mention the fact that we were signed to Motown, which gives us a little more credibility as far as R&B and soul music goes.”Doors open at 7 pm, with 98 Degrees taking the stage at 8 pm. Tickets go on-sale Friday July 19, 2024, at 10:00 am and start at $45. Tickets are available for purchase at kansasstar.boydgaming.com , www.ticketmaster.com or by visiting Boyd Rewards at the Kansas Star Casino.
