Kimora Potter, 16, says she decided to compete in this year’s Miss Juneteenth ICT pageant to step outside her comfort zone and make more connections.

The Northwest High School student is the daughter of Felicia Lewis and Shawn Potter.

If she is crowned Miss Juneteenth ICT she said she will use the opportunity to get more involved in the community and use her influence to get her peers more involved in volunteer work and charities.

“I would also like to get more teens into programs like Job Prep that most teens don’t know about,” she said.

She said she enjoys volunteering work and puts a high priority on education, hoping to graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA.

The Miss Juneteenth ICT pageant is Thursday, June 13 in the CAC Theater on the WSU campus.
