A unique weekend retreat dedicated to those who dedicate their lives to caring for others is set for June 7-8.
Offered by J. Michelle Vann and Vanntastic Solutions, the retreat is designed to nurture and empower caregivers through interactive workshops, discussions and connections with other caregivers.
Friday night’s event will be limited to 20 spots and will provide an intimate evening at Scotch and Sirloin.
Dr. Norma McxLauchlin, author of “The Forgiveness Game,” will provide a special presentation designed to help attendees discuss and delve into the transformative power of forgiveness, a popular tool for personal and professional growth in caregiving.
On Saturday, the seminar moves to Woolsey Hall on the Wichita State University campus. The program is limited to 50 caregivers who will participate in workshops designed to foster fortitude and fulfillment in their role as a caregiver.
Sessions will cover a range of topics, including mental health strategies, healthy eating, and effective journaling – all of which can help overburdened caregivers take care of themselves.
The sessions will include both educational workshops presented by experts and interactive sessions where the caregivers will participate in guided journaling or meditation to help provide relaxing and spiritual renewal.
The weekend will also provide networking opportunities to connect with other caregivers, share their experiences and find support from those who truly understand the stresses that come with caregiving.
Both the Friday dinner event and Saturday morning workshops are free of charge for all caregivers. Sponsors include Sistahs Can We Talk, the Central Plains Area Agency on Aging, AARP Kansas and Communities Organizing to Promote Equity.
