Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., has always been proud to promote the authors within the sorority, and this year, they’ve put together a new tour featuring some of these authors. That tour, featuring six dynamic authors, will make a stop in Kansas City on Sat., April 13 from 3 to 6 p.m., at UMKC’s Student Union Theatre, 5100 Cherry St, KCMO.
Participants at this free literary event will get a chance to enjoy engaging discussions, book signings, and opportunities to connect with some of the most talented authors in the Delta Sigma Theta sisterhood.
This year’s event features a broad range of interests — children’s literature, fiction, health & wellness, memoir and self-help — aimed at inspiring minds and encouraging a lifelong appreciation for books and storytelling.
This year’s authors include:
•Ann Champion Shaw — WORTH, A Story of Favor and Forgiveness In this memoir, Shaw shares her story of going from an upper-middle-class family to a world of poverty, driven by her parents’ divorce. The book is centered around a 1979 visit Shaw had with “Good Times” and a surprise birthday gift that reminds her of what’s most important.
•Barbara Keaton Stubblefield — Nights Over Egypt This novel based around a love of antiquities and historic Egyptian ruins, forces Ashalon, a professor of Egyptology, and American Professor Corina Camden together on a search for mummified ruins. “Nights Over Egypt” is a story of archeological digs, rich culture and “buried” passions.
•Candice McField — As for Me and My Body Based on fundamental wellness principles and proven results, “As for Me and My Body” is a simple, straightforward life plan for you to transform to truly fit. You’ll learn that permanent change of any kind begins on the inside via this book that guides you through a personal 21-day life-changing quest.
•Donna Pendleton — Dee’s Adventures: My Best Friend Rita This children’s book is about best friends, Dee and Rita. Even when a terrible illness in their town causes them to be separated, nothing can separate their love and friendship.
•Dr. Brandy Peoples — A Journey Toward Purpose & Promise What am I born to do? Dr. Peoples takes you on a descriptive trip, full of rich life lessons, wisdom, and godly principles written where she shares the process she experienced that led her directly to the answer.

The woman has abandoned them and he needs a place to get back on his feet. Leading with her heart, he takes her back in – but this time, he has a hidden agenda and things get really complicated.
“We are honored to have been chosen as the host chapters for the Delta Authors on Tour event,” said Erica D. Wills, president of the Kansas City, KS, Alumnae Chapter. “This is an incredible opportunity for us to celebrate the literary achievements of our sisters and to promote literacy within our community, especially among our youth.”
The tour, created by the sorority’s National Arts and Letters Commission, supports the sorority’s commitment to fostering literacy and a love for reading.
