Dr. Timothy Jones, a Wichita native who currently serves as Associate Concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Professor of Music at Wichita State University, is one of 10 Wichita artists to be awarded a 2024 Cultural Funding Artist Access Grant.

Jones is a Wichita native who holds degrees in Music Education and Violin Performance. He has performed as both soloist and concertmaster with ensembles in North and South America. He first earned a permanent position with the Wichita Symphony at the age of 17. 

His 2024 grant is for $998.60.

The grant recipients represent a range of disciplines, including music, theater and visual arts. The grants are designated for the artists to use for professional development opportunities.

Other artists receiving funding include:

Twyla D. Smith, Marco Hernandez, Lucia Rose Suniga, Janet Federico, Joseph Peck, Cody Flory Robertson, $1,000 Talia Bowman-Bekemeyer, $1,00; Jennifer A. Larsen, and Connie Bonfy, $870.

Applications are now open for the second round of Artist Access Grant funding and will close Feb. 1, 2024.
