Swope Health, a provider of accessible healthcare in Kansas City, in July ventured beyond its historical borders with the acquisition of a Leavenworth-based pediatric practice. The move marks Swope Health’s first expansion in Kansas since the 1980s.

Dr. Lori Ann Golon, the primary physician at the Leavenworth practice, along with the entire clinic staff, transitioned to Swope Health while maintaining regular operating hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are thrilled to welcome the entire staff to Swope Health and feel honored to strengthen our service to Kansas families,” said Jeron Ravin, J.D., President and CEO of Swope Health.

Dr. Golon’s practice has been a cornerstone of pediatric care in the Leavenworth and Lansing communities for over two decades, offering quality and cost-effective medical services. The expansion aligns with Swope Health’s mission to eliminate barriers to care and promote lifelong health habits for children and families.

“Combining resources and services will allow us to provide our patients and families with the best in care and support,” said Dr. Golon.

Two New Doctors

Swope Health reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive healthcare in Leavenworth with the recent addition of Dr. Debra Heidgen and Dr. Vernon Mills. The esteemed pediatricians have served Leavenworth for over four and five decades, respectively.

Effective December 11, this strategic move brings their practice under the umbrella of Swope Health. Drs. Heidgen and Mills will now practice at Swope Health’s Leavenworth location, which will be rebranded as Swope Health KidsCARE Leavenworth Pediatrics.

“I am honored to join Swope Health and to continue serving the children and families of Leavenworth,” said Dr. Heidgen.

President and CEO of Swope Health, Jeron Revin, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the alignment of their skills, expertise, and patient-centered approach with Swope Health’s mission.

“Joining Swope Health will provide us with an enhanced platform to continue delivering excellent care to our patients,” said Dr. Mills

Swope Health KidsCARE Leavenworth Pediatrics, with the collective expertise of Drs. Golon, Heidgen, and Mills will provide well-child visits, immunizations, preventive care, acute illness treatment, and chronic disease management. The clinic remains committed to its patient-centered approach, offering a warm, welcoming environment that prioritizes accessibility, cultural sensitivity, and high-quality care.
