The 103rd Wichita NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet will be Oct. 28 at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive.
The annual event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. with light hors d’oeuvres and wine, followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
With the theme “Thriving Together,” the event will honor veterans and Executive Order 9981, which fully integrated the U,S. military. Col. Johari Hemphill, commander of the 22nd Mission Support Group at McConnell Air Force Base and Michael Payne, Director of the Dole VA Center will offer greetings.
Andrea Gayle Bennett, Retired Brigadier General and Massachusetts Deputy Secretary for Veterans’ Services will be the guest speaker. Darryl and Jacqueline Kelly will be Emcees.
Fifteen special honorees will be recognized during the event. They are: NE Millaire Neighborhood Association, Devaughn James Injury Lawyers, Pastor Pamela Hughes Mason, Dr. Michelle Redmond, Rep. K.C. Ohaebosim, Wayne Bell, Kyle Ellison, Frankie Kirkendoll, Vet2Vet, EllaMonique Baccus, Terrell Florence, Riccardo Harris, Julius Williams, John Wright and Rowena Sanders.
