Now is the time to make your opinion known.
The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization has launched its long-range planning called WAMPO MTP 2050 with a goal of setting priorities for transportation improvements throughout the Wichita metro region.
The plan includes looking at safety, ease of travel time and ways to make the system better for all modes of ground transportation, including walking, biking, driving, and public transportation.
Members of the public who want to share their issues with traffic congestion, safety concerns or any other ideas to improve transportation in Wichita are invited to reply to an online survey on the project website at www.wampo.org/mtp2050 by July 31.
Throughout the project, WAMPO is hosting stakeholder listening sessions and pop-up events during the summer of 2023. The public can follow WAMPO on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up to date on summer events.
The process will include developing a vision, creating goals and objectives to support the vision and establish priorities for projects based on public input and ultimately match projects with available funding sources.
“We all require the use of transportation, whether it is driving a car, riding a bike, taking the bus, walking to school, taking an Uber or Lyft or riding a scooter,” said Chad Parasa, executive director of WAMPO. “By sharing your experiences and concerns through our online survey or meeting us at pop-up events, you can help us make better transportation that serves you.”
The survey takes about eight minutes to complete.
