The Unified Government of Wyandotte County is calling on neighborhood leaders and residents to take part in a roundtable discussion aimed at creating a shared vision for a thriving, empowered community. The discussion will focus on what it takes to achieve this vision and will kick off a comprehensive planning process for the next 25 years.

The roundtable will take place on Sat, Apr 29, at the Eisenhower Community Center from 10 a.m to noon. The Unified Government aims to discuss a new popular topic: resiliency.

Resiliency is a complex term that means something different to everyone. At its core, it means that bad things happen but a prepared community can bounce back and recover more quickly, making it resilient. Ultimately, it is about ensuring that KCK neighborhoods are thriving and empowered in good times and bad.

The important pieces of the planning process for the community include public policy adopted by elected officials that set the goals, strategies for attracting resources, funding, and partners to help achieve these goals, and an empowered community that believes in these goals and is contributing in their own way to make that vision a reality.

A good comprehensive plan that establishes a shared vision for the community will help guide future infrastructure, development, and key investments that shape neighborhoods and the quality of life for the next 25 years or so.

The Neighborhood Roundtable is an opportunity for residents to engage in a conversation about what resilience means for their neighborhood and what they imagine for the future. It is an opportunity for residents to have their voices heard and to contribute to the creation of a shared vision for the community.
