The Unified Government’s Public Works Department is holding the first WyCo Dumpster Days event of 2023! Dumpster Days is an event to help residents recycle electronics waste for a fee and dispose of unwanted bulky items like old mattresses and furniture for free.
The event occurs on April 21 & 22 from 8 a.m. to noon at Highland Park, 4900 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, KS. Visitors need to show proof of Wyandotte County residency with something displaying their name and address, like a driver’s license or utility bill.
Items accepted include electronics recycling, mattresses, furniture, refrigerators, general appliances, fixtures, microwaves, freezers, televisions, and more.
For televisions, computer screens, flat screens, and monitors, the following fees are charged:
CRT Computer Screens, $40
LCD/Flat Screen TVs, $20
CRT TVs, $40
Cash only. Exact change is required.

Items that cannot be accepted include:
All household hazardous waste
Paint
Yard waste
Batteries
Storm debris
Food waste
Medical waste
Glass & plastics recycling
Tires
Construction or demolition material
Any item from businesses, non-profits, or other commercial entities
These items will be turned away at the event, so remember not to bring them!
For yard waste, storm debris, and glass or paper recycling, residents may use the Recycling & Yard Waste Center at 3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, KS, at no charge. The Recycling & Yard Waste Center is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, until November 26. The center is closed on holidays.
Household hazardous waste may be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste(HHW) Center at 2443 South 88th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111 for free. Visit wycokck.org/waste to view 2023 operating hours.
