Individuals are encouraged to attend the Kansas City Kansas Public School gun violence panel discussion and resource fair on Thur. Nov. 17, 5:30 p.m. at JC Harmon High School, 2400 Steele Rd, KCK.
The evening begins with an information fair featuring over 20 organizations who will offer resources to promote positive health and wellness. A few organizations that will be present are The Urban League, Ad Hoc Group Against Crime and more.
The evening will continue with a panel discussion of community leaders considering ways to tackle gun violence. Guests include KCKPS PD Chief Curtis Nicholson, representatives from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, Behavioral Health Coordinator Angela Dunn, Trauma Injury Prevention Specialist Olivia Desmarais, and Wyandotte County District Court Judge Delia York. KCKPS School Board President Randy Lopez will offer remarks regarding the violence crisis in the KCK community.
Attendees can submit their questions for consideration by the panel, as well as voice their concerns and questions.
“I look forward to this event in hopes that it will help us find answers on how we as a community can stop the violence,” said Dr. Anna Stubblefiled, KCKPS Superintendent who will moderate the panel discussion,
