A total of eight school districts are shut down today after the Blues Springs police notified the FBI of a threat of an “unspecified mass shooting.”

 The Blue Springs School District Facebook page states the FBI has confirmed an individual has been taken into custody. School activities will be resuming tomorrow, June 16.

 “We take all threats of violence seriously and work with our local partners to provide resources as needed,” said Dixon Land, an FBI spokesman in Kansas City. He said Blue Springs police are leading the investigation into the threat.

The threat impelled Independence, Grain Valley, Lee’s Summit, and other school districts to close summer school and other activities for safety precautions.
