The Kansas City Streetcar Authority is planning to engage the community through an exhibition of public artwork along the KC Streetcar route in downtown Kansas City.
Through a competitive, open-call process, the KC Streetcar Authority will select local visual artists to create temporary, two-dimensional artwork that will be displayed on three to five streetcar station stops.
The artwork will respond to what Black History Month, Women’s History Month and Black History Month means to the artist.
The artwork will be viewed by thousands of KC Streetcar riders and downtowners daily. Selected artists will receive an artist stipend of $500, plus project support to bring the artwork to the streetcar route for this outdoor program.
Chosen artwork will be installed Feb. 28 and displayed through April.
Artist applications are due Jan. 31 here: https://kcstreetcar.org/call-for-art-2022/.
