Maxine Drew has been inducted into the Mid-America Education Hall of Fame at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
Drew, a native of Wyandotte County, is currently president of the Kansas City Kansas Board of Education. She served as a social studies teacher at West Middle School for more than 35 years.
The Mid-America Education Hall of Fame started in 1996 as a way to recognize individuals, organizations and corporate supporters in the community who have made notable contributions to education.
This year, Mary Ann Flunder, a committed leader in the community, was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. Flunder spent more than 20 years as a member of the KCKCC Board of Trustees and was the director of the Office of Minority Affairs for the University of Kansas.
