While the world is coping with the coronavirus pandemic, during her show, Ellen DeGeneres decided to phone former first lady Michelle Obama to discuss how she is dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak with her family, according to BET.
DeGeneres questioned Obama about the daily routine for the Obamas, which, due to the coronavirus, includes daughters Sasha and Malia.
โWhat are you doing to be creative and keep busy?โ DeGeneres asks Obama.
โWeโre just trying to structure our days,โ Obama told the daytime talk show host and comedian. โEverybodyโs home. The girls are back because colleges are now online. Theyโre in their respective rooms doing their online classes and I think BarackโI donโt know where he is. He was on the phone on a conference call. I just got finished with a conference call.โ
Degeneres inquired about Sasha, 18 and Malia, 21, being back home after returning from college amid outbreak. โMy condolences that the kids are home,โ DeGeneres joked. โBecause you were saying how happy you are that theyโre gone.โ
โI know, I shouldnโt have boasted about that,โ Obama laughed. โThe gods are getting me back!โ
Obamaโs point of view isnโt lost on whatโs happening in the world right now.
โThereโs some good and bad that goes with it. I feel for all the folks who are going to suffer because of whatโs going to happen to the economy and we have to be mindful about what weโre going to do to support those folks when this quarantine is over,โ she said.
โAnd that is a negative, but on the positive side, I know for us, itโs forced us to sit down with each other, to have real conversations โ you know โ really ask questions and figure out how to keep ourselves occupied without just TV or computers.โ
