Wichita State University has announced changes in their classes and athletics in response to the coronavirus pandemic. 

For the week of March 16-20, Wichita State University will only hold online classes.  During that week, faculty, staff and students are to use that week to prepare for online instruction which will begin after spring break, which is scheduled for March 23 – 27.    

WSU residential halls will remain open and continue normal operations including food service.  However students who are able to move to another location are encouraged to do so during this time.  Each week, beginning March 30, WSU leadership will reassess the need to continue online and/or remote-only instruction.

Other university and regional changes due to coronavirus


The following information was announced regarding athletic activities on WSU campus. 

High School Athletic Events will continue through this weekend (March 15) with limited attendance of only family and officials. 

Effective Mon., March 16, all athletic events — either sponsored by WSU or held on WSU property — will be cancelled.

Events initially scheduled for after April 13 will be reevaluated.

Collegiate Athletic Events

Effective Thursday, March 12, all Wichita State athletic events are suspended indefinitely, per the American Athletic Conference.

Non-Athletic Events

No events will be allowed with attendance larger than 150 people.

Non-credit courses, workshops, conferences, and day trips will continue as scheduled.
