Retired NFL football player Kamerion Wimbley is closing his restaurant Wings & Things on East Central, but intends to bring it back as a food truck, possibly as soon as next month.

The restaurant opened in 2013 with the help of Wimbley’s aunt, Valerie Mitchell, and won numerous awards, but a nationwide slump in wing restaurants and a need to focus on other business interests prompted Wimbley to close the location, he told The Wichita Eagle in a recent interview.

Wimbley was a 2002 Wichita Northwest High School grad and played on defense for the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans before retiring from the NFL in 2015.
