The men of the Gamm Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. held their 2017 Founders Luncheon on Nov. 11 at the Marcus Welcome Center on the Wichita State University campus.
Stefan Hughes, Esq. was the guest speaker. Hughes is the 1st Vice District Representative for the 8th District of Omega Psi Phi. He is currently an Assistant United States Attorney. Hughes has worked in the Narcotics and Violent Crimes Unit.
The Omega’s presented a surprise “Citizen of the Year” award to outgoing Councilwoman Lavonta Williams. Other honorees included: Bro. Dana McElrath; “Col Charles Young Military Leadership”award, Harry Willis; “Omega Man of the Year” award and Wendell Smith; “Superior Service” award. Brother Edward Jones was recognized as the senior member of the fraternity having been initiated on Dec. 30, 1949.
The program concluded with introduction of new officers, Basileus; Joseph Patrick Jr., Vice Basileus; Roderick O. Gray Jr., Keeper of records and Seal; Dana McElrath, Keeper of Finance; Harry O. Willis, Chaplain; Rev. Dr. Kevass Harding and Immediate Past Basileus; Larry Burks Sr.
