More than twenty construction firms will be represented at the Construction Careers Jobs Fair on Saturday, March 4. The event is hosted by the Wichita Workforce Center, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC of Kansas) and the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce and is free for attendees. The event, will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wichita Workforce Center, 2021 N. Amidon Ave., Suite 100.. Registration is not required.
The entertainment lineup for Wichita’s 2017 Riverfest was announced this week.
The top five positions available with companies attending Saturday’s Job Fair include Construction Laborer, Carpenter, Concrete Finisher, Heavy Equipment Operator and Diesel Mechanic. A few of the companies attending the Job Fair include: APAC-Shears, Cornejo & Sons, Crossland Construction, Eby Construction, Hi-Tech Interiors Inc. “The construction industry in important to the South Central Kansas economy,” said Keith Lawing, president and CEO of Workforce Alliance. “The industry is gearing up to hire a number of individuals for good paying jobs and we want to help them connect with qualified job seekers.”
“We’re experiencing a critical workforce shortage and this job fair is a step towards meeting our employment needs,” said Cloys Bayless, Safety & Training Director at AGC of Kansas.
“When I talk to our members in the construction industry, their number one concern continues to be about recruiting new talent,” said Gary Plummer, President of the Wichita Regional Chamber. “The Chamber helped start the job fair and continues to support it because it delivers actual results for those employers.”
