Demolition of KTA bridge scheduled for Dec. 2 – 5

WICHITA – In what can be described as a milestone in the transportation construction project on East Kellogg, the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) bridge over Kellogg near Webb Road will be removed over a weekend, from 10 p.m. on Friday December 2, through 5 a.m. on December 5.

Wildcat Construction is overseeing the demolition. The East Kellogg improvement project is a joint effort between the City of Wichita, Kansas Department of Transportation and KTA.

As a result, changes in traffic routes can be expected.

On Monday, November 28, (today) the KTA bridge over Kellogg near Webb Road is expected to close as the first step toward demolition of that bridge. This means:

 – All traffic exiting the Turnpike (I-35/KTA) at the Kellogg toll plaza will use the eastbound south frontage road. Drivers wishing to go west on Kellogg will need to use the provided U-Turn, ½ mile east of Webb Road.

– Access to the Turnpike (I-35/KTA) via westbound Kellogg will detour to Rock Road then come back eastbound to the Kellogg/KTA entrance.

Monday, November 21,

 –   Kellogg’s eastbound south frontage road, roughly between Webb and Greenwich, opened

–   Left turns at eastbound Kellogg & Webb Road are prohibited. A U-turn option for eastbound Kellogg is provided approximately ½ mile east of Webb Road.
