The call is out for Barbecue chefs to participate in the Shadyway Plaza BBQ Cook-Off to be held Sat., July 23. Participants can earn bragging rights for the year and potentially gain a loyal customer following. The cook-off is part of the Shadyway Blues and BBQ Festival to be held from 1-9 p.m. at Shadyway Plaza Park, 1421 N. Spruce, Wichita. The Cook-off tasting is from 3-5 and the blues and jazz concert will follow the tasting. 

Competitors are encouraged to stay around after the tasting to sell plates to festival attendees. Each competitor must provide 150, 2 oz. servings of the product for the tasting. The competition will cover three meant categories – chicken, ribs, and brisket. Competitors can compete in two or all three categories. Winners will receive cash prizes and a trophy. Vendor fee is $30 before July 8, $40 after.
