The Financial Freedom Expo is a “you don’t want to miss” half-day of financial education, from some of the best financial educators, planners, and service providers in the nation; and it’s all FREE!
Participants can attend a workshop that others would pay $1,000’s of dollars to attend, but thanks to the efforts of a coalition of community organizations, it’s free for everyone who can attend on Sat., April 16.
The event includes 21 workshops designed to meet participants where they are financially. If you don’t have any money, want more money, or don’t know what to do with the money you have, this expo is for you. There are workshops for youth and senior citizens, individuals interested in starting a business and individuals interested in buying a home.
This year the expo is themed “Money in the Bank?,” and that’s what we organizers want everyone to do, get more money in the bank, and in some cases, start a relationship with a bank. According to the FDIC, a disproportionate number of Wichitans don’t have a bank account. Banks and credit unions will be on hand offering the “unbanked” an opportunity to open a rebuilding account.
This is the third year for the Financial Expo, organized in part by The Community Voice and the Kansas State Conference of NAACP Branches. In the first two years, the event attracted more than 300 participants who attended the workshops, enjoyed a free lunch, visited with expo exhibitors and won free prizes. This year, all of the great things from the previous expos are back.
What all can you expect if you attend the expo?
•Lots of people of diverse demographic groups: race, income, wealth, and age.
•Informative workshops presented by informed experts in their field.
•Lots of opportunities to get you questions answered.
•Vendors with great financial information you need to know.
