Individuals who are: 65 years of age or older, are Medicare card recipients, or individuals with a physical or mental disability verified by a licensed physician, qualify for Wichita Transit’s Half-Fare Program.  Once they qualify by completing and submitting the application, these individuals can ride the  City’s regular fixed-route buses for half the regular adult fare.

A special Half-Fare ID card is given to eligible individuals who have qualified for the service by completing the application form.  To receive the fair, individuals are required to show the ID when they board the bus.

Medicare cards are not verification of eligibility when boarding the bus.

The Half-Fare Application form is available online.  To get the card, the individual needs to bring a completed and signed application form and all supporting documents (including a driver’s license, a Kansas photo ID, or a birth certificate) to the Transit Center between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Upon acceptance into the program, the card will be issued.

There is no charge for the original ID card. The firs replacement ID card is $2 and additional replacement cars are $5.  Individuals should notify the Transit Center if their card is lost.
