Family members and friends traveled to the Hutchinson the weekend of July 31 for the City’s 126th Annual Emancipation Proclamation Celebration Weekend. The weekend is a homecoming for the City with many families with Hutchinson roots planning their holding family reunions around the weekend celebration.
With a full lineup of fun and free events, there were lots of opportunities to reconnect.
The weekend started downtown in Ave A Park with live Jazz featuring Gerald Dunn and the KC Jazz Hall of Fame Band. Saturday kicked off with the annual parade down Main Street featuring at least four drill teams, plus the usual kids on floats, horses and clowns. The day continued with a free picnic in the park and concluded with an Old School Dance at the Fairgrounds. The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with a Gospel Concert followed by an ice cream and cake social.
