Carl Brewer Center Opening in McAdams Park

Originally opened in 1958, the McAdams Recreation Center has undergone a major renovation and expansion — along with a name change to the Carl Brewer Community Center. The new facility opens Dec. 6 as a shining addition to McAdams Park.

Chiefs Stadium Talks Heat Up — Kansas Site Now in Play

The Kansas City Chiefs put out a request for proposals to design a new stadium on the Kansas side of the state line with Missouri and are negotiating for land near the Kansas Speedway, according to two reports from Kansas City area talk show hosts.

Wichita continues with plans to hire city manager after finalist withdraws. The City Council met with the city manager search committee Monday morning in a closed session, where no legal binding action was taken, according to Wichita Mayor Lily Wu. (Wichita Eagle)

Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff dies, aged 81. A star since the 1960s, he helped to bring the sound of Jamaica to a global audience through hits such as Wonderful World, Beautiful People, and I Can See Clearly Now. (BBC)

Trivia Answer: A. Gene Wilson. Gene Wilson was the first Black player on the Kansas State University basketball team in 1951, breaking the conference’s color barrier. He was also a trailblazer in track and field for the university.
