18th & Vine Opens New Pedestrian Corridor Ahead of Juneteenth

18th & Vine’s long-planned streetscape transformation is complete. The new pedestrian corridor got its first real test during the Juneteenth parade and is already changing how people experience the historic district.

New Black Business Passport Highlights KC Entrepreneurs

Kansas City Kicks Off Juneteenth Season

Thousands lined 18th Street as the Kansas City Juneteenth Parade returned to the historic 18th & Vine District. The event showcased drill teams, dance groups, car clubs, Greek organizations and community pride while highlighting the area’s new pedestrian-friendly streetscape improvements.

Trivia Answer: A. Sojourner Truth. Sojourner Truth (c. 1797 – 1883) was an American abolitionist, women’s rights activist, and evangelist. Born Isabella Baumfree into slavery in Ulster County, New York, she escaped to freedom in 1826. She is best remembered for her powerful, impromptu advocacy for human rights and for her famous, though widely debated, “Ain’t I a Woman?”
