3. Kansas City’s Reparations Study Finally Underway After Two-Year Delay
After years of delays, Kansas City’s long-awaited reparations study is finally underway. The Mayor’s Commission on Reparations, sworn in May 2023, has hired a research team to begin a 16-month project examining how city policies harmed Black residents — and what remedies may be possible.

4. Federal Government Accuses Kansas Town of ‘Aggressive and Unlawful’ Interference With CoreCivic
The U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday joined a private prison company in its legal fight with Leavenworth city officials, accusing the city of “aggressive and unlawful” interference with immigration enforcement.

5. After Food Stamp Cuts, Trump Administration Ends Annual Hunger Report
The Trump administration is ending the federal government’s annual report on hunger in America, stating that it had become “overly politicized” and “rife with inaccuracies.”

Buc-ee’s construction set to begin next week in Kansas City, Kansas. After several months of planning and delays, construction on the first Buc-ee’s in the Kansas City metro is expected to begin. (FOX)
