After the successful Juneteenth ICT parade, participants and a crowd of viewers, crowded McAdams Park despite the squelching heat for a gathering of friends under the trees, some shopping, line dancing and lots of eating from a variety of great vendors.

NAACP Refuses to Invite President for First Time in 116 Years
For the first time ever, the NAACP is shutting the door on a sitting president—calling Trump a direct threat to civil rights. Donald Trump will not be invited to the NAACP’s national convention next month, making him the first sitting president in the organization’s 116-year history to be excluded.


Iran launches missiles at US military base in Qatar in retaliation for American bombing. U.S. officials reported no casualties. (CNN)
Paid parking in downtown Wichita set to begin July 1. If you spend time in downtown Wichita, you’ll soon have to start paying to park. The city is working to install parking kiosks on Douglas and St. Francis by July 1. (KWCH)
Trivia Answer: B. Billie Holiday. Billie Holiday, the jazz singer and trumpeter, sang “Strange Fruit,” a powerful protest song against lynching. The song, written by Abel Meeropol, depicts the gruesome reality of lynching in the American South, comparing the victims to “strange fruit” hanging from trees.
