12th Annual Black Infant Mortality Awareness Walk

September 12 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join Uzazi Village to help shine a light on the urgent reality of Black infant mortality and maternal health disparities with BIMAW!

Black babies in the United States are more than twice as likely to die before their first birthday, and Black women face significantly higher risks during pregnancy and postpartum.

These outcomes are not inevitableโ€”they are preventable.

At BIMAW, we walk to:

-Raise awareness

-Honor lives

-Support families

-Advocate for change

-Build a stronger, healthier future for Black mothers and babies

With every step, we move closer to equity.

What to Expect:

This isnโ€™t your average awareness walkโ€”this is a full community experience:

โœ… A meaningful community walk

โœ… Wellness tent (mental health resources + quick sessions)

โœ… Free produce giveaway (while supplies last)

โœ… Food trucks, including plant-based options

โœ… Live music from DJ Doop

โœ… Kids relays + bounce houses

โœ… Family-friendly activities

โœ… Community organizations + resource tables

โœ… Corporate + community team participation

Your participation directly supports:

-Doula services and birth support

-Maternal health education

-Mental health and wellness programs

-Advocacy and systems change

-Community-based care for Black families

Whether youโ€™re walking in honor of someone, showing up for your community, or simply looking to be part of something meaningful, there is space for you at BIMAW.
