The Spring 2026 Scholarship Reception honored 39 outstanding Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) students whose hard work and determination earned them college scholarships through the KCK Schools Foundation for Excellence.
Held on Wednesday, April 29, at Central Office of KCKPS, the event was a celebration of achievement, resilience, and the bright futures ahead.

Scholarship awards for students ranged from $1,000 to $5,000, totaling an impressive $128,000 in support as these students take their next steps toward higher education.
“Our students work so hard every day,” said Alan Watson, program manager for the KCK Schools Foundation for Excellence. “Today, we had the opportunity to recognize and celebrate them for their efforts.”

District leaders echoed that sentiment, applauding both the students and the support systems behind them.
Superintendent Dr. Anna Stubblefield and Board President Randy Lopez praised the students’ achievements while also recognizing the vital role of parents and guardians in helping them reach this milestone.

Adding to the excitement, each recipient was given a new MacBook Neo, courtesy of an anonymous donor, equipping them with essential tools to succeed in their academic journey. As the event came to a close, the message was clear that these scholarships represent more than financial support, they are an investment in the promise and potential of KCKPS students.
The KCK Schools Foundation for Excellence, is a nonprofit that raises private funds to expand opportunities for KCKPS students.
